I’m a IBCLC, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, in Hamilton, Ontario.
Breastfeeding, Chestfeeding, Bodyfeeding, bottle feeding, transitioning to solids, and weaning all present unique challenges to parents and infants. My goal is to support your family as you find what works best for each of you at that moment in time.
I experienced difficulties with both of my children. From being told I had flat nipples (nope!), that my baby had a tongue tie (yep!), that my baby was loosing weight (yikes!) and that I had no milk (but wait, where’d it go?), I needed a constant support person who would guide me through the challenges, celebrate the wins, and encourage me to keep going.
After my daughter was born in 2016, I created a line of Breastfeeding clothing out of frustration with the lack of options in market. Through this experience, and the community of Fearless Feeders I’d created online, I realized others were looking for the same support I was seeking. I felt compelled to be that person but I hadn’t met anyone who was an LC who wasn’t already a nurse.
Then I had a second baby (and more troubles!) and met my now mentor and her group of interns, some of whom weren’t nurses. I took a course to become a CLE and began to offer support to close friends. When the pandemic kept us home, I took the time to rack up the pre-requisites I needed to become an IBCLC.
I have now completed 90 hours of Lactation Specific course work through Mohawk College and 500+ hours of supervised clinical practice. I wrote the IBCLC Examination in September 2023 and, effective January 1 2024 will be offering services as an IBCLC.
